Estée Blancher

As a child, Estée Blancher was immersed in the richness of the culture, folklore and ambiance that permeates Louisiana. Encouraged to explore and nurtured by an artistic community, she gathered a diverse educational background.

While working towards a degree in documentary filmmaking at California State University, Monterey Bay, Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana and Mississippi. Overwhelmed with a desire to help, she set out to document the tragedy. With permission from her school, support from her teachers and community, Estée was granted an independent study to return home and film her story.

Estée has completed an award winning short titled: Heaven Come Down, Stories Of the Lower Ninth Ward, and her most recent work entitled: In My Heart, A ChildŐs Hurricane Katrina Story.

Graduating in 2008 with an "Outstanding Senior for Social Justice," award, and a "Service Learning" award, Estée continues creating documentary films that impact society.
