Gulf Coast Civic Works Project.

Dr. Scott Lypton-Meyers and a group of students at San Jose State University began the Gulf Coast Civic Works Project to help American citizens recover from Hurricane Katrina.

HR 4048: The Gulf Coast Civic Works Act was introduced on November 1, 2007. It now has one Sponsor, Representative Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), and two Co-sponsors, Representative Charles Melancon (LA-D) and Representative Gene Taylor(D-MS).

In the Fall semester of 2007 the Service Learning Institute at CSU Monterey Bay collaborated with students at San Jose State University to create media supporting the Gulf Coast Civic Works Project. Estée Blancher and five Service Learning students from the Teledramatic Arts and Technology Department, also known as TAT, completed two public service announcements and one recruitment video.
